Prenatal Lactation Consultation

If you are pregnant and planning to breastfeed, our Prenatal Breastfeeding Class is the best place to start. However, if you have taken that class and need additional support or already have experience breastfeeding or pumping, you may schedule a Prenatal Lactation Consultation. During a Prenatal Lactation Consultation a provider will gather a detailed medical history to identify any risk factors for breastfeeding challenges and help you create a proactive plan to achieve your goals. Your provider will also perform a breast exam, teach you how to hand express colostrum, discuss flange sizing for breast pumps, and provide assistance with choosing an appropriate breast pump. At your visit, you will be provided with instructions for using your insurance benefits to purchase a breast pump. Prenatal Lactation Consultations are offered in our offices as well as virtually.
