You book with us, we verify your benefits, we file your claims, and every question along the way is answered by our own team.

Covered visits, and what happens if you need more of them

Cigna covers lactation support as preventive care under the Affordable Care Act, typically at minimal out-of-pocket cost depending on health coverage. The preventive benefit is commonly described as six visits per pregnancy. Feeding challenges do not always resolve on a schedule, and this is where being a multi-specialty lactation practice matters: with nurse practitioners on our collaborative team, we can often continue your care through your Cigna medical benefits after the preventive benefit is used. Our billing team verifies how your specific plan handles this before your first appointment.

A Cigna-network card that doesn't say Cigna? Bring it.

Many employer health plans run on the Cigna network through third-party administrators, so your card might say Lucent, Healthgram, Allegiance, or another name alongside a Cigna network logo. We accept plans that use the Cigna network, including these TPA-administered plans. If you are not sure what your card is, send it to our billing team and we will sort it out; that is exactly what benefit verification is for.

Classes, groups, and pumps under your Cigna plan

Cigna covers our prenatal breastfeeding classes and support groups for most members, and most plans include a breast pump benefit as well. Our IBCLCs have advanced pump training, will help you choose a pump suited to your body and feeding plan, and our team handles the benefit paperwork. In-house billing, from verification to claim

Our billing team sits in our practice, not in a network's call center. They verify your Cigna benefits before you arrive, file every claim directly, and answer coverage questions themselves. We never route patients through third-party billing networks such as The Lactation Network.
